Strategy - you're absolutely right about mistakes - good leaders sense the feelings of their team, suppliers, customers, and ask the tough question; "is the strategy correct"? Does it feel, look, smell "right". They use all their senses and get a wide range of input. Many business leaders feel that strategy has to be 'right' - it can't be questioned. A great leader challenges others and themself, to figure out if the direction is right. That questioning mode comes from them having a greater level of confidence. It generates more support from grass roots, not less (on condition that the strategy isn't changed every few months). So I'd suggest that whatever environment we're talking, go reach out and do check/balance on your business strategy. The trees might have grown since you last looked out over the forest canopy.
