One thing I'd like to clarify (you touched on it re: press releases):

Linking media assets together, and creating a focus of inblund links to your primary media (eg. a video on YouTube) is a factor we've seen work very well for driving Universal Search Results.

It's the same rule that applies to organic search: high-quality inbound links increase your site's position in SERPs. The same applies to your media assets.
